Everyone knows, ladies love a man in uniform. But how about an antique print of a man in uniform - does it have the same effect?
My military print selection includes numerous generals in full uniform, as well as prints and plans of their main battles.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.
Alfred, Lord Tennyson, 1856

Early in 1853 a violent brawl between orthodox and Roman Catholic monks took place in Bethlehem, during which some of the latter were killed. As a result of this, Tsar Nicholas I of Russia decided to destroy the Turkish empire, to which Bethlehem belonged. He invaded a province of Turkey, Romania. However British and French intervention forced him to withdraw. The Allies decided to punish Nicholas by destroying Sevastopol. After losing Sevastopol, Nicholas sued for peace. The war ended in 1856.
